Hardcover: brown paper over boards with complete d/j. 4to. 34 pp. Illustrated with 6 full colour original etchings (4 double-page spreads, and 2 fold-outs) created by British artist Howard Hodgkin. The etchings are printed in itaglio and hand painted in Sennelier tempera by Jack Shirreff. Tissue guards on all etchings. Hand painted cover. This is copy 64 out of a limited print run of 200 for general purchase. Signed and numbered by Sontag and Hodgkin on the editions page. Sontag's short story, addressing the AIDS crisis in New York, was originally published in The New Yorker in 1986. The sales from this deluxe first edition were originally donated to hospitals in New York and London to fund AIDS care and research. 

Pages bright and clean. Binding strong and square. Boards and spine lightly shelf worn. There is a small (roughly 2 x 1 cm) deep dent on the inside the upper board. The d/j is a little worn along the edges with some small closed tears (no loss of material), but the majority is clean. Wrapped in protective clear mylar to prevent any further damage. Condition:.
