Commercial Art Volume III.
Printed in the UK. The Studio Limited. 1927. First edition. Hardcover: 1/4 tan cloth over marbled paper over boards. 4to. 288 pp. Illustrated with hundreds of b/w and full colour plates of advertisements (mostly posters but also some printed ads) and product labels. "Commercial Art" was a monthly periodical, and a sibling to the well known magazine "The Studio." Where the latter focused on fine art, "Commercial Art" (as the name implies) focused on contemporary graphic design and advertisement. This volume collects the articles from the July to December (1927) issues and arranges them in alphabetical order.
Previous owner's inscription and stamp on the inside front cover (Max Hartz of Hamburg). Some light foxing to the edges and prelims. Pages generally clean and unmarked. Colour illustrations are vibrant. Binding is strong and square. Boards and spine are worn and rubbed with gently bumped corners. There is a roughly 2.5 cm split in the back hinge starting at the crown. A perfectly legible and useable copy. Good. Item #68072
