Copy has been re-backed, preserving the original vellum. Six compartment spine with five raised bands. Brown ink (or possibly burnt) lettering on spine. Extensive, elaborate blind tooling covering the entirety of both boards. Remnants of clasps. Brown edgestain. Slightly foxed and age toned. Several small paper tabs were once glued in for quick reference; only two remain. Previous owner's ink inscription on the top of the dedication. Graphite notes in a contemporary hand on the back flyleaf and pastedown. Pages bright and clean with occasional marginalia in graphite. Binding strong and square. Boards and spine are rubbed, bumped, slightly discoloured, and contain some small cracks. Note on the printer: the Martinus Nutius that printed this volume was the third printer under that name (1594-1638), being the grandson of the original.
