Hardcover cloth (original salmon) over boards with later issued d/j. 8vo. 91, [3] pp. Illustrated throughout with Saint-Exupery's iconic drawings in b/w and full colour. Translated into English by Katherine Woods. Title stamped in red on the spine and front board. Image of the Little Prince stamped in red on the front board. Two ownership inscriptions (one crossed out) on the top of the front flyleaf (r). The text block is slightly age toned, clean, and unmarked. The binding is strong with a slight skew forward. The boards and spine are shelf worn along the edges and at the crown/tail. Corners lightly bumped/frayed. The dustjacket (illustrated paper) is worn along the edges and chipped at the crown/tail, and in the corners. Spine sunned. The book is in very good condition with a good d/j. Notes on the edition: publishers Reynal & Hitchcock were bought by Harcourt, Brace & Company in 1948. In 1960, HBC merged with World Book Company becoming Harcourt, Brace, and World. Copies of The Little Prince published by HBW only displayed the 1943 copyright date despite being published at a later time. The d/j on this copy is from the 1960 edition. However, the book itself is a 1943 first edition. Evidence to confirm this includes no mention of HBW in the book, the five line colophon, and the rose printed on page 27. Very good. / Good.
