Pagination: volume I -- xxxii, 768 pp; volume II -- [iii], 769-1553 pp; volume III -- [ii], 1555-2323 pp. Illustrated copiously throughout all three volumes with b/w woodcuts from the 1568 edition, and tipped in full colour photographic reproductions of artwork. Uniform binding. Gilt woodcut of Giorgio Vasari stamped on the front board. Author, title, volume number and elaborate floral ornament stamped in gilt on spine. Marbled endpapers. Red star stamped on the top edge of all three volumes. Text blocks are clean, unmarked and square with a strong binding. The spine and boards of all volumes are slightly rubbed. The slipcase (brown leather over cardstock with gilt ornaments and brown silk ribbon) is worn/chipped along the edges with a small enclosed tear along the top edge. Case is still strong and square.
