Hardcover quarter leather (dark brown calf) over paper (marbled) over boards. 4to. xv, 555 pp. Illustrated with a b/w engraved frontispiece, three b/w engraved fold-maps of Chile, one engraved multiple-fold panoramic view from Santa Lucia that has been partially hand coloured, a full page b/w engraved map, three b/w engraved city plans, and five b/w engraved drawings. Part of a six volume set though volumes four and five were not published. Five compartment spine with four raised ribs. Black leather label with gilt short title pasted into compartment two. Volume number stamped in black in compartment four. Text block is moderately age toned and lightly foxed, but is otherwise clean, unmarked, and square. The boards and spine are worn and rubbed with some loss of material. Crack in the bottom of the front hinge runs about one third up the length. Corners bumped and frayed. Spine creased. Some care will be needed when handling to not further damage the front board. Overall condition is fair. Fair. Item #67419
