Hardcover full leather (red) over boards. 8vo. xix, 576 pp. Illustrated with 24 full-page plate drawings by artist Jean de Bosschere: 16 in full colour (including tissue guarded frontispiece) and 8 in b/w. Binding by George Bayntun (marked on the upper left corner of the verso of the front flyleaf). Six compartment spine with five slightly raised ribs. Black leather label with gilt title in compartment 2; green leather label with illustrator in compartment three. Gilt borders, rulings, and dentelle on the spine. Gilt double line border and dentelle edges on the front and back boards. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Half title present. Text block shows slight age toning to the edges, but overall it is clean, bright, unmarked, and square with a strong binding. The spine and boards have mild shelf wear but the gilt ornamentation is still bright and whole. Slight creases along the spine and hinges, but the leather is still subtle. The inscription "850.2" has been written in the first compartment on the spine in marker. A very bright and handsome copy in very good condition. Very good. Item #67330
