Pagination: volume I -- viii, 516 pp; volume II -- 517-1052 pp. Illustrated with 8 full colour, full-page engraved plates, including two frontispiece portraits: Napoleon in volume I, and Bernadotte, King of Sweden, in volume II. Zaehnsdorf binding. Six compartment spine with five raised bands. Compartments two and three coloured red and contain the title and volume number in gilt. The rest of the compartments contain gilt ornaments of crowns and moths. Single line border stamped in gilt on front and back boards, as well as a single gilt rule along the edges. Dark brown topstain. Text blocks of both volumes have light foxing around the plates but otherwise they are clean, bright, unmarked, and square with a strong binding. The boards and spine are lightly rubbed and worn. A very good set overall. Very Good. Item #67294
