Pagination: volume I - frontis, xiv, [1], 388 pp; volume II - frontis, iv, 426 pp; volume III - frontis, x, [1], 448 pp. Illustration: volume I - a b/w lithograph frontispiece, a b/w engraved fold-out map, and two coloured lithograph plates; volume II - a coloured lithograph frontispiece, two coloured lithograph plates, a b/w lithograph plate, a b/w engraved fold-out map, and a b/w engraved floor plan; volume III - a coloured lithograph frontispiece, a coloured lithograph plate, six b/w lithograph plates, and a b/ fold-out engraved floor plan. Uniform binding. All edges marbled. Six compartment spines with five raised ribs. Compartments two and three contain a short title, author, and volume number in gilt. The other four compartments contain gilt ornaments and rulings. The text blocks of all volumes are slightly age browned but free of foxing and other marks. Pages and illustrations bright. There is an enclosed tear (4 cm) in the final page of volume I running from the fore edge inward, and the top corner of the last page of volume III has been torn (about a 1 cm loss). No other notable damages to the text blocks. The spines and boards of all volumes show very light wear to the edges and hinges, and lightly bumped corners.
