Gilt stamped rulings on front and back boards, gilt stamped ornaments on spine. Gilt head. Marbled endpapers. Text block is slightly age browned, with light foxing throughout. Occasional marginalia in graphite, including an amusing depiction of a horse on page 37 of volume II. Tears in pages 167 (vol I) and 340 (vol II). Binding is strong and square. Spine and corners darkened. Boards are a little rubbed and shelfworn. Leather along the spine creased, and the head and tail are frayed. A strong little book in good shape for its age.
