Illustrated with 78 tipped-in albumen photographs (10.5x15 cm each). A photo album of images of Pompeii, likely taken by Italian photographer Michele Amodio. Title and hand written captions in French. Gilt title "Pompei" stamped on spine and front board with an additional gilt stamped floral border on the front board. Light foxing to endpapers and the margins of some plates. Images are clear and well preserved. Back fly leaf has a water mark that reads "Gaetano Criscuoli." Binding is strong. Pronounced wave in the text block and boards. Boards and spine rubbed, worn, and flaking. A curious and fascinating copy. As described. Item #67125
