Volume 1: xxxviii+ 276 pp, volume 2: 279+[1] pp. French language. Each volume has an engraved plate frontispiece -- volume 1: a Muse (possibly Euterpe) surrounded by cherubs, volume 2: two men fighting in an interior space. Includes all half titles, publisher's advertisements in volume 1, and a single page errata at the end of volume 2. Each spine stamped with gilt ornament with 2 red leather labels with title and volume number stamped in gilt. Remnants of gilt decoration on the board edges. Sewn in green ribbon book mark has come detached in volume one. Text blocks of both volumes are only slight age browned, and have very minor foxing to the front and end matter. Clean and unmarked, with a strong, square binding. The leather on the boards and spine is flaky, creased and worn, but not cracked. Corners and top/bottom of spine exposed. Good. Item #67117
