Hardcover cloth (navy) over boards with d/j. 8vo. 228 pp. Illustrated with blue monotone photograph portrait of the author on the back of the d/j. Red printer's device stamped on the lower right corner of the front board. Gilt design and tile (in red compartment) stamped on spine. Deckled fore edge. Text block shows some light browning from age, but is predominately clean, unmarked, and square with a strong binding. Minor rub marks to boards and light shelfwear to edges, spine, and corners. Dustjacket (illustrated paper) is rubbed all over, creased along the edges and hinges, chipped along the head, and has a hole on the front fore edges and top of spine (removing the B from Black from the title). This copy includes the following ephemera: a loose, single fold pamphlet from the "Book of the Month Club News" of a review of the book by Dorothy Canfield, meant to be glued onto the flyleaf of this copy.
