Vol I xix + 485 pp, Vol II [2] + 480 pp. Illustration: volume I contains 10 b/w, fold out, fine engraved plate maps and diagrams, all whole and undamaged; volume II contains 7 b/w, fold out, fine engraved plate maps and diagrams, all whole and undamaged. Gilt stamped title and decorative lines on both spines. Decorative marble endpapers on both. Ownership inscription on both volumes at the top of the front flyleaves. Text block condition: both volumes slightly browned from age, lightly foxed throughout, and contain some bleed-through from the engraved plates. Heads darkened. Overall the text blocks are predominately clean and square with a strong binding. Binding condition: both volumes have mild rubbed boards, wear along the edges, cracks along the hinges (front and back), creased spines, and show signs of repair (most noticeable on vol II with sections of the original leather of the spine missing). Overall strong and functional. Interesting copies with plenty of use left in their bindings; suitable for research or collection. Good. Item #67042
