J. Jaques and W. Wright. 1827. 1827 edition. Cloth over boards. Hardcover cloth (green) over boards. 8vo. [4] + 692 pp. Illustrated with 7 b/w plate engravings, a b/w engraved portrait frontispiece, and a b/w illustrated title page. Trimmed and rebound into a library binding. Illustrated title page dated 1826, but the letter press title page is dated 1827. Decorative red speckle edges. Half title stamped in gilt on the spine. Ownership inscription at the top of the illustrated title page has been partially trimmed off. Text block shows slight signs of water damage to the edges (likely reason why it was trimmed and rebound), browning to the plates, frontispiece, and illustrated title page, and some light foxing throughout. Small black stain on the fore edge of pages 265 to 270, and on the fore edge of the plate portrait of Captain Franklin, who has had his pupils enlarged by an unknown hand. Binding is strong and square. Boards and spine show almost no shelfwear. A good functional copy. Good. Item #67035
