Working copy; many corrections, either pasted in or hand written, throughout. A Record of Amendments plate has been pasted on the front endpaper. Last record date on it is August 1947. Marginalia throughout in several hands. Fore edge index seems to have been cut in by a previous owner. Text is very clear and legible. Binding still strong and square. Small tear in the leather at the bottom of the front hinge. Edges are worn. Outside cover has some rubbing marks, and there is some sunning along the head. A truly fascinating edition. Fair.
