ANTIQUE MAP. Conquetes d'Alexandre (1845)
Paris: Librairie Geographique De Aug. Grosselin, 1850. Unbound. Map of Alexander's conquests, with inset of Alexander's empire, from "Atlas de Geographie Ancienne, du Moyen Age, et Moderne" (Paris, 1850). The map measures approx. 13" x 18" inches, including margins, and has a centrefold. Details are hand-coloured. Originally made by Delamarche in 1845, it was part of the compilation for the Atlas of 1850. Two very short edge-tears at foot of centrefold, mended with archivist's (invisible) tape on verso, not affecting map. Delamarche was a famous 19th century French cartographer and naval engineer.
