Rebound. Uniform binding. Six compartment spine with five raised ribs. Title, author, volume number, and four leaf ornaments stamped in gilt on the spine. All edges marbled. Marbled endpapers. Hind, a professor of chemistry at University of Toronto's Trinity College was government geologist on a survey of the west. The illustrations are based on photographs taken by the expedition's photographer, Humphrey Lloyd Hime, or on sketches made by John Fleming, assistant surveyor. Some light foxing and minor edge-tears to a couple of the folding maps, and faint darkening to margins of some colour plates, not affecting illustrations which are all clear and bright. ALL PLATES PRESENT, though a couple are displaced due to the usual binder's oversight. A crisp, ultra-professional and tastefully rebound copy with an amazingly fresh appearance. Near Fine.
